AECC Welcome Letter
Welcome to Alderwood Early Childhood Center, home of the Otters!
Alderwood Early Childhood Center is the primary campus for Edmonds Inclusive Preschool Program. We welcome students with disabilities, students whose families qualify for state funded income-based preschool, and tuition-based preschoolers. We provide high quality, developmentally appropriate, inclusive learning environments and experiences for all students. We look forward to welcoming our students and families onto our campus this year!
My name is Darcy Becker, and I am the onsite administrator of Alderwood Early Childhood Center. My role also encompasses responsibilities as the district’s Director of Early Learning Programs. I have over 30 years of experience as a teacher, elementary principal, and central office administrator in both public and private schools in Washington. I am extremely privileged to work with the excellent staff in Edmonds Preschool. They are committed to creating a joyful learning community where children are seen, heard, valued, and encouraged to be the best they can be!
As we continue to prepare for the upcoming school year, know that our district and building staff are working tirelessly to make this year a rousing success.
We hope you enjoyed your summer and are ready for a wonderful new year!
Alderwood Early Childhood Center (AECC) is a preschool campus of approximately 212 students but growing every day. Preschool students attend AECC if they reside within the Lynnwood High and Mountlake Terrace High School attendance zones. There are ten inclusive preschool classrooms at AECC; in 9 of those classrooms, the special education teacher is the lead, and in one classroom, a general education teacher, co-taught with a special educator who also serves the IEPs of students in that class.
